KU Starlights gives young players a place to learn the game, build confidence, and continue growing their volleyball skills in a fun and encouraging environment.

Players can develop year-round through KU Starlights Academy or take the next step into Competitive KU Starlights, our team-based program for players ready for increased training, tournament competition, and preparation for junior high volleyball.

Competitive KU Starlights is the next step for players who are ready to train more, compete more, and experience being part of a team.

Designed primarily for 5th–6th grade players, Competitive Starlights features twice-weekly practices, 15-week seasons, tournament competition, team development, and advanced skill training—all while maintaining the fun, positive, and encouraging culture that makes Starlights special. PREPARING FOR JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL

For players hoping to play junior high volleyball, Competitive Starlights provides valuable game experience before school tryouts begin. Players develop stronger fundamentals, learn team systems and court responsibilities, gain competitive experience, and build the confidence to walk into junior high tryouts better prepared.

HOW DO I JOIN A COMPETITIVE STARLIGHTS TEAM?

Competitive Starlights is a team-placement program, so players must register and attend a Competitive Starlights Tryout to be considered for a roster spot.

Following tryouts, team offers will be emailed to players who demonstrate readiness for the increased training, competition, and commitment of the program.

Tryouts for the Spring Teams

Thursday, December 3rd, 6:00-7:00 pm.

Competitive Starlights Tryout Fee: $35



After a Starlight Tryout, your daughter may receive an emailed team offer to play with our competitive team. If you accept the offer, you are registering your player for the 15 week season.

Fall 15-Week Season

September 8 – December 17 (Prior to Thanksgiving, teams will practice Sunday November 22, 5:30p-7:30p and Monday November 23, 10a-12p)

Tuesday / Thursday 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Fee: $995.00 (Team Commitment Deposit $395.00, Oct installment $300, Nov installment $300)

Spring 15-Week Season

Dates: January 12 - April 29 (no practices during Spring Break)

Tuesday / Thursday 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Fee: $995.00 (Team Commitment Deposit $395.00, February installment $300, March installment $300)

UNIFORM PACKAGE (15-wk players Only) - $125

Uniform packages are purchased separately for Competitive Starlights. If your player is offered a spot on a Competitive Starlights Team, you will be asked upon acceptance if you would like to purchase the Starlight 4-Piece Uniform Package.

Each player must have this to participate.

If your player already has a Starlight 4-Piece uniform package and it is still in good condition, she may use it again.

Starlights athletes are coached by experienced, USAV-certified coaches who are passionate about helping young athletes learn, grow, and love the game.

All coaches complete:

• SafeSport training
• Background checks
• Misconduct awareness education

Families can feel confident knowing their athletes are learning in a safe, positive, and supportive environment.

KU Starlights Academy & Mini-Stars Refund Policy

At Katy United, we understand that plans can change. To help us properly staff and plan for our programs, we have established the following refund policy:

• Cancellations made more than one week prior to the player's start date are eligible for a refund of the membership fee, minus a $50 administrative fee.

• Cancellations made within one week of the player's start date are NOT eligible for a refund of the membership fee.

• Parents may cancel their KU Starlights Academy or Mini-Stars membership at any time by notifying Tiffany Dagley in writing at TiffanyD@katyunited.com

• Upon cancellation, all future auto-payments will be discontinued, and no additional charges will be processed.

• No refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments will be issued for previously billed membership payments, missed practices, or unused program participation.

• If Katy United is unable to hold a scheduled program due to unforeseen circumstances, Katy United will determine whether a makeup session, credit, or alternative accommodation will be provided.

This policy allows us to maintain appropriate staffing, facility scheduling, and program quality while providing flexibility for participating families.

KU Competitive Starlights Refund Policy

Competitive Starlights teams are formed through a tryout and team placement process that requires advance planning, staffing, scheduling, and tournament commitments.

• The Competitive Starlights Team Commitment Deposit fee is non-refundable.

• If a player chooses not to participate after paying the deposit, the account holder must notify Tiffany Dagley in writing at TiffanyD@katyunited.com.

• Upon notification, the player will be removed from the program and all future scheduled payments will be discontinued.

• The deposit fee will be retained, and no refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments will be issued for the registration fee.

• No refunds or credits will be issued for missed practices, tournaments, or team activities.

This policy allows Katy United to maintain roster stability and meet coaching, facility, and tournament commitments for all Competitive Starlights teams.
