Join the Starlights – Where Passion Meets Play!

The 🌟 Starlights program at Katy United is the perfect fit for young athletes looking to take their volleyball skills to the next level! Designed for players in 3rd–6th grade (ages 8–12), this program is ideal for those aspiring to join a club team or make their junior high school team within the next one to two years. With highly competitive volleyball in the Katy area, we help prepare players with the fundamentals, confidence, and game experience they need to succeed.

No Tryouts – Everyone Plays!

There’s no tryout required—if you register, you make a team! Starlights players practice once per week and get the exciting opportunity to compete in several weekend tournaments against local clubs throughout the city.

• FUNdamentals first! We emphasize court discipline, focus, and teamwork, all while keeping the game fun and engaging.

Professional Coaching – No Parent Volunteers Needed

A portion of your fees goes directly toward paying experienced, USAV-certified coaches—so parents can relax and enjoy the games! All coaches have completed SafeSport training, background checks, and misconduct awareness education, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for every player.

Program Cost: $325

SKILLS, WASH DRILLS & SCRIMMAGING

• Dates: September 1 - September 24
• Mondays and Wednesdays Only Each Week
• 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Program Cost: $775 per session (See 2 Registration/Payment Options Below)

Registration Payment Options:

1) PAY 3 SESSION COMBO PACKAGE (fall/winter/spring) – $150 Discount

• $550 due at registration with the balance of $1,625 to be paid in 6 consecutive monthly payments (November 15th – April 15th) – Payments made 3 days late will incur a late fee of $40.

2) PAY ONE SESSION AT A TIME - No Discount

• $550 due at registration with the balance of $225

EARLY REGISTRATION – $50 Discount

$500 due at registration.

• Fall Early registration ends Sept 26, 2025
• Winter Early registration ends December 26, 2025
• Spring Early registration ends March 6, 2026

4-Piece Player Uniform Package – $120

All players are required to purchase a uniform package. However, once purchased, uniforms may be reused in future seasons as long as they remain in excellent condition.

Important Details:

• The Player Uniform Package is sold separately from session registrations.
• A complete Starlight's Uniform Package includes:
• Jersey
• Practice Shirt
• Navy Shorts
• Navy Drawstring Backpack
• If you already have a full uniform set issued by KU and all items still fit and are in great condition, you do not need to reorder.
• If any piece of your uniform is worn out or no longer fits properly, please contact Coach Dani at DaniD@kaytunited.com. Please do not wait until the week of a tournament. Do this at the beginning of the session for timely delivery.

Refund Policy:

• Players that are removed within the week prior to tournament session start date will receive a refund minus $50 admin fee. After the first practice, no refunds will be issued for the registration deposit amount and no further payments will be debited.

Starlights Tournament Sessions

Our Starlights Tournament Sessions begin in October, with weekly practices held on Fridays from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. (see specific dates at the bottom of the page)

Each practice follows USAV guidelines, structured as follows:

• 15min Program Warmup
• 80min Skill Focus Stations
• 25min of Gameplay

During skills training, players will focus on the fundamentals of serving, passing, setting, and hitting to build a strong foundation.

What to Wear to Practice

All players must have a uniform package, which includes a practice t-shirt. Players should wear this shirt to practice and wear/bring the following:

• Kneepads
• Athletic shorts
• Supportive tennis shoes
• Water bottle

Local Tournaments

Local tournaments are held on weekends, typically on Sundays, and last 5 to 6 hours. Spectators should be prepared to pay an entry fee, and concessions will be available for players and spectators at the venue.

Uniform Requirements

Each player must have a uniform package, which is separate from session registration. Uniforms are mandatory for tournament play. We will host a uniform fitting before the first practice of each session to ensure proper sizing.

Tournament Structure

Each Starlight session (Fall, Winter, Spring) includes three local area tournaments, where our teams compete against developmental teams from other local clubs.

• Players compete within their age group, though some may be invited to play with older teams based on skill level.
• All players will participate in three tournaments per session in either the 11U or 12U division.

These tournaments provide valuable game experience and a fun, competitive environment for players to develop their skills!

Starlight players range from ages 8 to 12 years old; 3^rd grade though 6^th grade ~ most of our players range from 10yrs to 12yrs old.

Girls will play with their age groups but may be asked to step up to play with older girls depending on their skill set.

Girls will compete in 3 tournaments at various levels: 11U and 12U
