WELCOME TO KATY UNITED STARLIGHTS
The Starlights program here at Katy United is a terrific fit for players seeking an elevated challenge in volleyball with hopes of joining a club or a junior high team in the next one to two years. This program hosts players ranging from 3rd – 6th grade (9-12yrs old) seeking to develop the necessary skills essential for continuing to make our club teams here at Katy United, in addition to junior high school volleyball, which is highly competitive in the Katy area.
No try-out is necessary in this program, as every player who registers will make a team. Players train once per week and have an opportunity to participate in several weekend tournaments against local clubs throughout the city. Our skills training focuses on the specific needs of the individual player. During practice, coaches train their teams based on the team’s needs. Team practices include pick-up games against other Starlights teams, giving the players valuable court and game time experience. The Starlights program teaches players court discipline and focus without compromising a good time. We teach the FUNdamentals of volleyball! Spend some time on our court; we know you’ll be pleased with the results.
We will not need any parent volunteers. A portion of the fees you pay go towards your daughter’s coaches. Coaches are USAV certified and have had background checks. Coaches have SafeSport certification and are trained in understanding their responsibilities in reporting as well as education in awareness of emotional and physical misconduct of players.

Tournament Sessions Practice Schedule
Our Starlights Tournament Sessions begin in October and practices are held once a week. We practice on Fridays from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
Each practice is designed around the USAV recommendations (1 hour skills training, 30 minutes of competition and 30 minutes of games).
During our skills training we teach the fundamentals on Serving, Passing, Setting and Hitting.
In addition to a jersey, shorts and bag, our Starlights are issued practice shirts. Girls need to come to practice with their own knee pads and a good pair of tennis shoes, along with a water bottle.
As an addition to our practices, we offer an optional skill building session, typically once per week on Sundays, where girls can work on their skills with Coaches for 2 hours. Skill sessions cost $25 for Starlight tournament players & $30 for non-Starlight players. Pay at the door with cash or Venmo. Each skill session will have a theme and sessions are announced on our social media. All participants mnust RSVP to kael@katyunited.com.
Tournament Sessions
Local Tournaments are played on weekend days and can last 5 to 6 hours. Most tournaments fall on Sundays. Tournaments have a small entry fee for parents and the venues provide concessions for players and spectators.

Each Starlight session (Fall, Winter, Spring) has three local area tournaments. We compete against developmental teams from other local area clubs.
Girls will play with their age groups but may be asked to step up to play with older girls depending on their skill set.
